URL Parameters

Open a page pre-filled with a query, time range, filters, or dashboard variables

A page keeps what it shows (its query, time range, filters and view) in its URL, so the address bar is always a link to what you are looking at. You can write such links yourself: /logs?filter=service.name:in:checkout&since=6h+ago opens a new Logs view filtered to one service over the last six hours, which then moves to its own address, /logs/<id>?…. Layout, such as column widths or an open sidebar, is not part of the URL; it stays with the view.

Values are URL-encoded as usual: a space is + or %20.

Repeated keys

A parameter marked repeatable may appear more than once in a URL. Each occurrence adds one value, in the order given.

Time range

The window the page queries. Any subset may be given; missing keys take their defaults. Without at, relative bounds are measured from the moment the page opens, so the link always shows the latest data. With at, the window is pinned and the link shows exactly the same data every time it is opened.

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
sincetime1h agoStart of the window. Relative (15m ago, 2d 3h ago; units s, m, h, d, w), now, or an absolute ISO-8601 date or time. An absolute value without an offset is read in tz. Example: 6h ago.
untiltimenowEnd of the window, in the same forms as since. Example: now.
tzIANA timezoneUTCIANA timezone the window is displayed in and offset-less times are read in. Example: Europe/Copenhagen.
attimestamp—The instant relative bounds are measured from, as ISO-8601 with an offset. The page writes it back into the address bar, so a copied link is pinned. Example: 2026-09-28T12:00:00Z.

Every page below accepts these parameters where it lists Time range.

Filters

A filter is written <field>:<operator>, followed by :<values> when the operator takes any. The field is everything before the operator, so dotted OpenTelemetry attribute names need no quoting: service.name:in:checkout. Filters are repeatable: give one filter per filter, as in filter=service.name:in:checkout&filter=status:gte:500.

OperatorValues
in, not_inOne or more, separated by commas
lt, lte, gt, gteOne number or datetime(...)
contains, not_contains, startswith, endswith, matches_regexOne text value, taken verbatim
searchFree text, taken verbatim; the field is *
is_null, is_not_nullNone

A value that reads as a number (200, -1.5) is a number, true and false are booleans, and datetime(2026-09-28T12:00:00Z) is a timestamp. Anything else is text; wrap text in double quotes to keep it text when it would otherwise read as a number ("200"). In in and not_in lists, \, is a literal comma and \\ a literal backslash.

Pages

Query

/query, /query/<id> — Write and run a KQL query.

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
qKQL query—The query to open. A link carrying a query runs it on open. Example: otel_logs | where severity_text == 'ERROR' | take 100.
databasedatabase name—Database the query runs against. Example: default.
viewone of table, logs, timechart, barchart, tracetableHow the result is shown. Example: timechart.

Also accepts Time range.

/query?q=otel_logs+%7C+where+severity_text+%3D%3D+%27ERROR%27+%7C+take+100&database=default&view=timechart&since=6h+ago

Logs

/logs, /logs/<id> — Browse and filter log records.

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
databasedatabase name—Database to read logs from. Example: default.
tabletable name—Table to read logs from. Example: otel_logs.
filterfilter, repeatable—A filter chip. Repeat the key for several; they all apply. Example: service.name:in:checkout,cart.
viewone of logs, groups, patternslogsThe records, their groups, or their message patterns. Example: patterns.

Also accepts Time range.

/logs?database=default&table=otel_logs&filter=service.name%3Ain%3Acheckout%2Ccart&view=patterns&since=6h+ago

filterfilter, repeatable—A span filter chip. Repeat the key for several; they all apply. Example: status.code:in:Error.
viewone of spans, span_groups, traces, pathsspansMatching spans as a table or in groups, or the traces containing them as a table or by their paths. Example: span_groups.

Also accepts Time range.

/traces?database=default&table=otel_traces&filter=status.code%3Ain%3AError&view=span_groups&since=6h+ago

Also accepts Time range.

/map?database=default&filter=service.namespace%3Ain%3Ashop&since=6h+ago

Dashboard

/dashboards/<id> — A saved dashboard. Open it by id; variables preset its selectors.
